TV programme to show 'Egypt's lost cities'

BBC programme will use satellite imagery to uncover pyramids

Travellers planning to take an adventure holiday to Egypt may be interested in seeing a television programme about the past and present of the country.

Egypt's Lost Cities, which offers a look at ancient Egypt through some of the world's most modern archaeological technologies, is coming to BBC One on Monday (May 30th).

In the show, top Egyptologist Dr Sarah Parcak will use images taken by satellite to discover the eponymous 'lost cities' of the north African state.

Dr Parcak told BBC News that the new technologies mean archaeologists can find places more easily - and look at the places in unprecedented detail.

"[Egyptologists] excavated a 3,000-year-old house that the satellite imagery had shown and the outline of the structure matched the satellite imagery almost perfectly. That was real validation of the technology," she said.

Travellers visiting Egypt on adventure holidays could visit some of the fantastic ancient sites, such as the Valley of the Kings.
