Tet Nguyen Dan, otherwise known as Vietnamese New Year, will be held on January 23rd this year, which leaves people planning solo holidays to the south-east Asian country plenty of time to prepare.
As with many festivals around the world Tet Nguyen Dan coincides with a widespread 'spring clean', cooking and money-gifting.
Furthermore, many of the houses in the south-east Asian country are decorated with a festive version of a Christmas tree - called a cay neu - which is usually made from bamboo.
Dana Sachs, who wrote a book called The House on Dream Street about her recollections of the country, called the festivities "strange and dreamlike" but highly recommended the experience.
Ms Sachs suggested that people on solo holidays visit Hanoi to witness the festivities in full swing, saying that the capital and the second-largest city is filled with the "promised … coming of spring" at this time.
