Turkey offers 'some of the best' water sports in Europe

People planning adventure holidays should visit Turkey

People planning adventure holidays may wish to visit Turkey, as the country is great for water sports-enthusiasts and has the added bonus of not being located too far away from the United Kingdom.

Joanna Marsh, who is press relations co-ordinator for the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office, said that people planning activity trips can see that Turkey is ideal just by looking at it on a map.

"For a country surrounded by sea on three sides (the Mediterranean, Aegean and Black Seas) and with some 8,000 kilometres of coastline, Turkey offers some of the best water sport opportunities in Europe," she said.

Ms Marsh added that many areas of coast offer travellers "excellent visibility", making them "a must-visit for scuba diving enthusiasts".

People in Turkey for an adventure holiday could also explore the country's Greco-Roman past in regions such as Didyma, which is an ancient city dedicated to the god Apollo.
