German tourist board promoting 'health and wellness' this year
People looking to indulge in personal health on activity holidays this year should consider travelling to Germany, according to the country's tourist office.
This year, the German National Tourist Board is promoting the theme of "health and wellness" for international visitors this year.
Jeanette Schuchmann, deputy director at the German National Tourist Board, noted: "We are much more aware of our health these days, so when we go on holiday, we look for relaxation but in some cases we want to do more, we want to actively do something for our wellbeing."
Travellers planning a healthy trip to Germany could take a cycling holiday around beautiful Passau, which could extend to a biking vacation down the Danube in Austra.
She added that there were hundreds of spas located all over the country, saying: "Germany and spas have a very long tradition. All the crowned heads of Europe used to take a pilgrimage almost for their annual spa break."
