Rift Valley Lakes
From Nairobi we head north into the celebrated Rift Valley and our first stop on the shores of Lake Naivasha. Here you may like to visit Crescent island to search on foot for wildlife including giraffe, zebra and wildebeest as well as excellent birdlife. There's also the opportunity to spot game and explore the spectacular scenery of Hell's Gate National Park before we continue north to Lake Nakuru. Famous for its flamingos and superb game, we hope to spot rhino, leopard, buffalo and lion on our game-drives here.
Samburu National Reserve & Tsavo West
Taking in some of Kenya's lesser known game parks we drive via Buffalo Springs to camp in the splendid setting of Samburu National Reserve. Game is plentiful here from the crocodile-infested river to lion, elephant and oryx roaming the desert bush in the shadow of Mt. Kenya. Turning south we drive via Sagana to Tsavo West National Park where we take both morning and afternoon game drives in this huge reserve experiencing some of the best views in Africa and searching for elephant and ostrich among its many animal species.
Exotic Swahili Coast
From Mombasa we make a short journey south to spend our final two days on the Swahili Coast overlooking the Indian Ocean. Here you can beachcomb, snorkel in the warm waters, take a dhow trip to nearby islands, birdwatch, enjoy excellent local produce and seafood or just relax and enjoy the tropical warmth on the secluded beach. The perfect end to a classic east African adventure.
Comment
Some long drives and rough roads, compensated by excellent game viewing and relaxation on the Swahili coast.
