Chan Chan, Kuelap & Gocta Falls
Starting in Trujillo and the pyramids of Chan Chan we travel to Chiclayo and the desert tombs of Sipan. We commence our journey across the Andes to the Chachapoyas region, home to immense cities and fortresses tucked away in the 'eyebrow' of the Amazon. Never discovered by the Spanish, the legacy of the pre-Incas surpasses even Machu Picchu - a real treat for the connoisseur. Pausing at Chachapoyas, there's the chance to be among the first people to walk to the recently-discovered Gocta Falls, with the third highest drop in the world.
Across the Andes to Cajamarca
Recrossing the Andes, our journey offers superb views of the surrounding mountains and valleys as we descend 10,000 feet to the river MaraƱon. At Cajamarca we admire the colonial architecture of the Conquistadors and visit the site where Pizarro captured the Inca Atahualpa.
MACHU PICCHU EXTENSION
It is possible to extend your stay this tour with a 5-day journey to Machu Picchu. From Lima we fly to Cusco where we have time to take in the wealth of Inca architecture and visit the Sacred Valley. We travel by train through the Urubamba Valley and visit the amazing hilltop site of Machu Picchu, hidden for centuries and probably South America's most memorable sight Ref: PLM.

An off-the-beaten track trip to tempt even the most experienced traveller. Walk to Gocta is easy to moderate but is optional.
