Overview

The South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula form one of the most spectacular wilderness areas on earth. A remarkable collection of wildlife lives in the shadow of snow-capped mountains and blue icebergs; penguins, whales and a rich diversity of birdlife await you an exploratory journey of the Great White Continent.

Built as an oceanographic research vessel for the Royal Dutch Navy, the M/V Plancius was fully refitted in 2009 and now boasts comfortable, modern design and fittings throughout. Plancius voyages are ideal for anyone who wants to actively explore the polar regions, as the ship operator specialises in water and shore based activities such as hiking, snow-shoeing and ice-camping.
