Hiking In The Picos De Europa

Details may vary depending on departure date. Please choose

Overview

This week-long trekking adventure takes us into the beautiful high mountain scenery of Picos de Europa National Park. We ride an exciting cable car into the unspoilt and wild landscapes of the Central Massif and hike to the base of the Naranjo de Bulnes mountain. On a trip highlight we trek along cliff-cut pathways through the imposing Cares Gorge - over 1000 metres deep and 12km long.

Tours are either Moderate Grade B or Strenuous Grade C departures, each with a distinct itinerary. Please check the dates and trip notes to see which tour operates on each date.

Grading & Fitness for Treks

To enjoy this trek in the Picos de Europa it is essential to be fit before you arrive. It is not wise to regard a trek as a means of getting into shape or losing excess weight. Start a programme of conditioning well before departure – in fact as soon as you book – and be aware that short walks on the flat do little to prepare you for the gradients involved on this trek. Running, hill walking and other more active sports are suitable.
