Trekking Details

This is a 6-day trek with an average of 4 to 6 hours walking each day. We reach the highest point at the summit of Mount Etna (3300m, optional). While we include walks on both Etna and Stromboli, the summit ascents are left as optional excursions to be arranged on tour. Walking is graded as moderate with the optional Etna summit graded as challenging.

Sicily Trekking Holiday

Overview

Travel with us to Sicily as we hike the spectacular north face of Mount Etna (3300m) - Europe’s largest volcano. We can also trek through dense vegetation to the crater of Stromboli, one of the world’s most active volcanoes. We admire the glow of incandescent lava at night and hope to see a natural firework display.

Tour Highlights

  • Vulcano Island - Ascent to the rim of Gran Cratere for views of the Aeolian Islands
  • Strómboli Island - Chance to see volcanic activity by both day and night
  • Mount Etna - Traverse along volcanic ash, lava flows and caves on Europe's highest active volcano
  • Lipari Island - Picturesque harbour town

What we say

Becky-PowneyStaff Member Becky Powney travelled on this tour in 2012.

"I have travelled all over Italy but I had never been to Sicily before so I bit my bosses hand off when she offered me this trip. It ticked so many boxes for me! Trekking was a must, seeing a live active volcano another, beautiful cities and towns and good food! What more could you ask for in a weeks holiday."
