Trekking Details
This is a 10-day trek with 4 acclimatisation days on Mount Meru and 6 days on Mount Kilimanjaro. We walk between 6 and 7 hours each day, with up to 16 hours on the main summit day. The maximum altitude we reach is 5895m. We have graded this trek as strenuous to tough.

Climb Mount Meru And Kilimanjaro

Overview

On this challenging trek we tackle Tanzania’s two highest peaks: Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro. We acclimatise on our hike to Meru’s volcanic cone then we climb Kilimanjaro via the Rongai route on the mountains northern flank. Making the summit push at midnight we reach Uhuru Peak (5895m) by morning to enjoy exhilarating views over the ice fields.

Day 2: Drive to Arusha National Park; trek to Miriakamba Hut

Day 3: Trek to Saddle Hut

Day 4: Trek to Mt. Meru summit then descend to Miriakamba Hut

Day 5: Trek to Momela Gate then drive to Moshi

Day 6: Drive to Nale Moru; walk to Simba Camp

Day 7: Walk to Kikelewa camp via ‘Second Cave’

Day 8: Trek to Mawenzi Tarn

Day 9: Trek to Kibo Camp

Day 10: Summit day and descent to Horombo camp

Day 11: Walk to Marangu gate and drive to Moshi

Day 12: Tour ends Moshi

Grading & Fitness for Treks

To climb Kilimanjaro you must be in good physical shape before you arrive. We recommend you start your fitness training well before departure. Running, hill walking and other active sports are the best ways of increasing your stamina and improving your fitness for a trek at high altitude.
