How was your Explore Tour Leader?

Great all round - good fun and very safety conscious.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

Bring padded cycle pants plus a gel saddle pad - even though a gel sadal was provided.

Do you have anything else to add?

Our first night's hotel was pretty awful. Right on the mail road, very stuffy and incredibly noisy. A new venue should be sought. Aside from that, enjoy the company, enjoy the scenery and enjoy a delightful cycling experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed this trip. It was a relaxed cycle along the Danube with stops at many lovely Austrian villages. The highlights for me were people watching in the village/town squares, sipping wine in hidden courtyards cafes, and of course the cycling itself. Being on a bike with the ability to go at your own pace; watching the other cyclists, some the locals going from home to shops and back, others hauling all of their camping gear on their bikes; picnicking with fresh food and wine along the side of the Danube, is an incredible way to experience the country up close. The most unexpected moment was how moved I was seeing the gas chambers and furnaces at Mathausen concentration camp. This came after a steep climb on the bikes to get up to the camp. I highly recommend taking a few days either side of the tour to enjoy Vienna. (CBD- 8th June 2010)

This was an amazing tour. I toured Syria and Jordan with Explore 15 years ago and had a wonderful time. My first cycling tour with  Explore was wonderful. Many on the tour had cycled several times with Explore. The scenery was superb and cycling allowed me to feel part of Austria. Our leader organised our group so that all paces of cycling could be accommodated, allowing us some freedom, while still keeping an eye on us and ensuring our safety. All in all a wonderful experience which I will remember always. (CBD- 3rd September 2010)
