What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

Walking near Song-Kul lake in Kyrgyzstan followed by watching a game of Kok-Boru nearby. The game was being played in honour of a local shepherd who had just died.

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

All three were excellent - Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and China

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

Don't expect too much from Kashgar. Most of the old city is gone and replaced with brash new buildings.

Do you have anything else to add?

Explore should think about removing China from this tour. The amount of travelling and hassles with visas and border crossing are probably not worth the visit. If Kashgar is seen as an important place to visit, it should be included in a tour within China and not an addition. I would have preferred to spend extra time in Kyrgyzstan.

Thoughtful ,kind and culturally very sensitive. (Rich: China)
VERY knowledgeable and excellent English. Super leader. (Marat: Uzbekistan)
Special praise for the local guides in Kyrg (olga) and in China (Abu)BOTH BRILLIANT!!"

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

Be prepared for very long days in a bus, often on unmade roads!

Do you have anything else to add?

"More time needed to appreciate the beauty of Kyrgyzstan. Kashgar, although of some interest, would be better not on this itinerary, taking too much time out of Kyrgyzstan.
The contrast between Uz and Kyrgyz was good. Both places were stunning in their own way. We are planning a return visit to Kyrgyzstan."
