What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

"Dubrovnik - A UNESCO World Heritage site and it's easy to see why. A typical Mediterannean Coastal town, Limestone walls, terracotta roofs, picturesque harbours and beaches with clear blue waters, combined with an old town full of history.
Split - Historically interesting and stunningly picturesque. The city is small by our standards but one of the largest in Croatia, it is centred around the Diocletians Palace, which is still being restored today.
Plitvice - The place I was looking forward to the most and the place that surpassed my expectations. On the UNESCO World Heritage list, Plitvice is a stunning national park with 16 natural lakes set in a large forest and brimming with wildlife and beautiful waterfalls."

Jakov knew all of the local places to eat and was full of handy tips to keep away from the crowds. You could see that eh was very organised and did a lot of work behind the scenes to make sure the tour ran smoothly and he has a great cheeky smile.

"On your free time in Dubrovnik I recomend getting up early and walking around the city walls, it is much quieter and cooler at this time of the day. It took me about 1 hour 45 to walk around the walls at a very slow pace and taking lots of photos. You will get the best photo opportunities from the walls. You can also take a cable car to the top of the hill for great photo opportunities and less walking and for a different view, take a trip on one of the boats from the harbour, very cheap and worthwhile. Plitvice National Park is ideal for everyone as it allows a number of different walking options from 2-3 hours up to 8-10 hours if you so choose. There is a network of road trains and boats that will take you between different parts of the park if you don't want to walk for the whole day and these are very frequent. My preffered part of the park for scenery was the lower and middle lakes where there are hundreds of waterfalls, within a very short distance of each other. If are able to visit these in the morning and come back also in the afternoon I would highly recommend it as the park tends to quieten down after lunch time.

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

We had an amazing dinner with a local family in Omis tasting homemade wine and fabulous food.  We also had a superb time on the sail portion of the trip relaxing, swimming and visiting some fantastic islands.  We learned a lot of history about Croatia and some Croatian language.  We thoroughly enjoyed our hiking day in Pliviche National Park.

Jakov Milicevic was extremely knowledgeable about history, local customs, tour management, and he had a delightful sense of humor.  He speaks excellent English so we had no trouble understanding his briefings.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

Come prepared to have a splendid combo journey of traveling and relaxation.  The sail portion was a perfect 2nd week compliment to the more active first week on tour.  Be prepared to learn a lot about the local history and enjoy some spectacular scenery, food and wine.

It was more than I expected. Croatia is a fantastic emerging destination.  Dealing with the cruise ship stops (Dubrovnik & Split) could be a bit trying due to the crowds, but our tour leader helped us time it to avoid the heaviest crowd times.
