Our family of two adults and four children (ages 12-4) had a fantastic time on this holiday. We were lucky enough to be the only family booked, so we had a private tour! Our guide, Karim, was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for him. Going to Egypt was a dream of mine, but I was worried about security - I need not have worried. We never felt unsafe, and everyone was wonderfully friendly. The children were never made to feel unwelcome, as can happen sometimes in more "civilized" countries! Our favourite things were seeing the pyramids - amazing; the balloon ride at Luxor - worth the 4:30 am start! The weather in October was perfect - not too hot. If I had to find a criticism - and its difficult - I would say that our guide in Luxor at Hatshepsut's temple was not really kid friendly i.e. he just ploughed on with his spiel and did not take kindly to being interrupted by eager questions. A pity because everyone else was fantastic. And at the end of our trip, in El Gouna, our guide booked us on a snorkelling boat trip - not ideal when you have a toddler. We found another wonderful tour company who organize trips to a beach where you can snorkel/dive off the beach and the little ones can play in the sand. Much better. Apart from that, it was great. We really felt that we saw the real Egypt. A fantastic holiday of a lifetime. The only problem is, now I want to go on another Explore trip....
