This trip was truly the best experience of my life. The views are breathtaking and around every corner of the trek there is so much to see and learn. There wasnt one dull moment. Food on the trek was brilliant. We were suprised each day with what the cook created for us. Be prepared to accept being a little dusty, dirty and in great need of a hot shower. If you can put up with this you will have the experience of a lifetime as its all part of being out in the wilderness of the Andes away from civilisation. Also apply a strong DEET liberally and you shouldnt have too many problems with mosquitos. Cuzco and the day treks prior to the trek were also first class. There was so many learning experiences. A fascinating place with the nicest people.

I walked the Inca Trail in 1994 and returned to make this trek in 2010. We should have been warned about the difficulty by the Ghurkha soldiers who returned from the trip before us! It was by far the hardest trek that I have undertaken and I often found myself thinking: "Why am I doing this?" Machu Picchu was almost an anti-climax - after all, I had been there before ;-)    However, it was also the most spectacular and fulfilling holiday experience of my life: when the giant Condor drifted out of the mist at the 15,000ft pass I was moved to tears of joy!  Our guides were brilliant and one of the best things was that for many days we saw no other trekers at all - complete isolation; just the four of us.    I cannot recommend the trek too highly. Followed by the Amazon extension to relax it was the perfect combination. (BPM - 1st June 2010)

The best bit was choquequirao being the only group there and then ending up at machu picchu- for a lot of the trek we did not see any other groups. It felt as we were the only ones there .The worst bit was being bitten by all the insects on the first night camping. If you go take insect spray. It was a brilliant trip. (BPM- 14th September 2007)
