What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

"The most memorable moment was the first sight of the large watering hole at the Etosha Park where we camped .The great variety of wildlife coming and going....just unbelievable and in such a natural setting.
The Sand Dunes were of course amazing as well as was the  bird life, the friendly people and our wonderful Tourleader."

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

Our Tour leader was an amazing guy called Peter who  was very knowledgeable about the bird-life, the country and it's people, plants etc. He was also an amazing good cook and looked after all our needs. We had 3 vegetariens  in our group of 8 !!  We never had the same meal in those 12 days and he even gave us some money back at the end of the trip as he had not spent it all. A very honest and caring guy and he deserves a medal !!!

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

" Go for it. !!!
An amazing experience you will never forget but be prepared for long and bumpy drives !!
We wouldn't have missed this trip for anything !"

Do you have anything else to add?

"The importance of a well informed and knowledgeable leader can make or break a trip.
Apart from one trip in Cuba we have always had very good Tour leaders."

Late night viewing at the waterholes in Etosha gave a luxurious and grandstand view of Africa.

Tour leader was brilliant fun and ran the tour perfectly.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

We travelled in March and the undergrowth was thick at Etosha. Some animals were obscured, but not the giant herds of Giraffe which were fabulous.

Do you have anything else to add?

I didn't go with any interest in geology but the rocks and landscapes became fascinating as there was a great variety.

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

Africats experience was super. We got so close to the big cats such as Cheetah and Leopard but the enclosures were so large you never realised they were confined getting ready for release.

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

Peter was excellent, he was game for a laugh and provided plenty of amusement on some of the long journeys. On a serious note he ran the tour perfectly without any hitch.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

Camping was a brilliant way to get amongst the wilderness and the sites were very secure.

Do you have anything else to add?

Be prepared to stay up late watching the waterholes at Etosha, especially if you want to see Rhino and we saw many.

This is an exciting overland style trip across the varied landscapes of Namibia. From the wildlife of Etosha to the incredible sandunes of Sossuslvei, this camping trip appeals to lovers of nature. The campsites were of a high standard for Africa, with hot showers and spacious pitches. The only downside is that the sites are very dusty so take flip flops for wandering around. Also take plenty of layers as it gets incredibly cold in the desert at night, but once the sun appears it's red hot very quickly. The roads in Namibia are quite good for Africa but the distances are huge so be prepared to spend a long time in the truck. The wildlife in Etosha is superb with lots of variety, we saw all the big 5 plus loads of birds. The seal colony at Cape Cross was brilliant too, apart from the smell! My top highlight though was learning to Sandboard in the dunes near Swakopmund, a brilliant experience not to be missed. (NW - 20th August 2005)
