What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

Freewheeling from Cruz de Ferro to Molinaseca after the hard work of the climb from Astorga and two punctures that morning. Also the delicious pulpo (octopus) and other tapas in the pulperia in Melide made a welcome and restorative lunch stop, not to mention the refreshing local wine, served in bowls!

How was your Explore Tour Leader?

Enthusiastic about the cycling but not helpful or informative about the requirement to validate a pilgrim passport, for those who wanted to do this as part of the trip.

What tips would you give to someone else booking this tour?

For those interested in qualifying for the pilgrim certificate, it is necessary to obtain a pilgrim passport in Villafranca del Bierzo (or anywhere earlier along the Camino) and get it validated. You can then get it stamped in various churches and refugios along the way. This passport also makes a lovely souvenir from the trip, even if you do not wish to cycle the optional extra distance to qualify for the certificate.

Our response

Thank you for this; the information is very helpful.  We have replied to you separately, but other customers might like to know that these certificates do have to be acquired and stamped individually, they can’t be obtained by the tour leader on behalf of the group.

Do ask the tour leader for assistance with getting a pilgrim passport at the start of the trip if you would like to receive the certificate at the end.
