We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, although it was a bit tiring at times driving 1500 miles, a lot of it on dirt roads to get to the remote game parks etc.  My cousin Ray, a keen birdwatcher (not a twitcher) saw over 200 species of birds on the trip, helped by our tour leader Jez Bennett. The wildlife was good, although I was disappointed not to see a leopard, but that’s the way it goes. I did see one on my first ever trip to Africa in 2009, beginners luck. I thought the Ruaha National Park was the best of the three reserves and we would have liked to spend more time there and then fly to Rufiji River Camp in Selous Game Reserve, perhaps missing out Mikumi?

The visit to the Orphans in the Wild village at Mufindi was excellent. We met Geoff and Vicky Fox who gave myself, Ray and Jez an extended tour of their estate, explaining the work they are doing with their son Chris to help provide work for the locals. The two dams they created for the rainbow trout farm looked very impressive and this looks to be a very promising project for the future.

Jez was a very good tour leader with an excellent knowledge of wildlife. All in all a good trip with a good mix of people.
