In particular, we loved the Morin hotel in Hue; so quaint. Hoi An is just gorgeous; all the lanterns are amazing, and it was really cute we got to make our own lanterns in a little cottage industry, and then made our own pottery in another little place. Ha Long bay is really beautiful, and the junk boats are beautifully kitted out. The car journey from Hue to Hoi An was fantastic, scenery wise; the Hoi Van Pass is stunning.
Ho Chi Minh is a great city; it's a lot more proportioned (and obviously wealthier) than Hanoi. The city tour was really interesting; our guide for the South was superb, so passionate about everything, and told us loads about the politics/communist regime/about the lives of the Vietnamese in general. The Mekong Delta was gorgeous; we had a lovely afternoon trip on different types of flat boats, and had a lovely local guide. Went to a coconut candy making little cottage industry; which was really cute. I was persuaded to sample the rice wine, which I thought was indeed wine, but it was more like rocket fuel!
The War Museum in Ho Chi Minh was extremely informative, albeit very disturbing. And it was appropriate to visit the Cu Chi tunnels the same day; to see both sides of the story. Thanks for all your help, and we'd certainly recommend Explore and Vietnam to any fellow travellers!
