I never imagined that we would see so many animals so close in such a short time. Highlights for us were cheetahs relaxing on a termite mound, elephants bathing in a mud pool, a lioness with her partly eaten zebra supper, leopard with a gazelle in a tree - all of these almost by the side of the car. Our guides were fantastic - I'll never know how they managed to spot some of the things we saw, and I know any wildlife watching activity involves a lot of luck. The tents used were very basic and the campsites were totally unsecured - you were out there with the wildlife, and we had various creatures sniffing round the tents at night. The campsites themselves had very basic facilities - this is not very far above wild camping so go prepared. You are far from civilisation so take extra camera batteries ready charged and don't bother taking anything electrical! Take a good head torch with spare batteries, keep covered up and sprayed against mossies and tsetse flies - bare ankles are just too tasty! The optional night drive is well worth doing - we saw bush babies and bat-eared foxes that are only out at night. This was an unforgettable experience, possibly our best holiday ever.(TW -10th January 2010)
