Tourism Concern campaigns to ensure that ‘tourism benefits the local people’ all over the world and gives a voice to small communities who might not otherwise be heard. Explore has supported this organisation on a variety of initiatives and admires the work they have done in raising awareness on many issues such as porters rights in the Himalayas, on the Inca Trail in Peru and at Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.

Giving a voice to local people around the world

Explore are also part of Tourism Concern’s Ethical Tour Operators Group as travelling responsibly is an ethos that has been part of Explore since we were founded almost 30 years ago. We believe that we should explore the world but not harm it as we go and always give back to the communities we visit. The work of Tourism Concern is invaluable in ensuring that an ethical approach is applied in the tourism industry.
