Following on from the adventures of Abbey Clancy and her mum and Will Mellor and his dad, it's the turn of celebrity father and son duo Larry and George Lamb to experience their very own 'Parent Trip'.
Explore were approached by the Specialist Factual & Arts Dept at ITV studios, who asked us for our help with the planning and implementation of the trips taken by the celebrities on the TV show 'The Parent Trip'. They came to us for our local knowledge and expertise in providing authentic and life changing travel experiences.
The Parent Trip takes three personalities and their parents on an adventure of a lifetime, opening their eyes to some of the world’s most extreme locations and fascinating cultures and giving them the opportunity to rediscover each other along the way.
Episode three - Namibia
The third and final episode of the series features television presenter George Lamb and his actor father Larry. George and Larry travel through the desolate landscape of Namibia to meet the men of the semi-nomadic Himba tribe, and embark on a vital cattle herding journey to find fresh grazing ground. Larry and George learn vital herding skills as they embark on a journey which takes them across spectacular scenery, from the desert to the mountains of Namibia.
Living in the extreme conditions of the Namibian desert, family ties are essential to ensure the survival of the Himba, and George and Larry throw themselves in and participate in all aspects of Himba life – from spending time with the women and children, to being guests of honour at an impromptu Himba ‘rave’ and helping slaughter a goat for a feast.
We can take you to Namibia where you can follow in the footsteps of George and Larry and get up close to the people of this amazing country. There's also the chance to see the incredible wildlife and scenery on one of our group tours. Or, if you'd prefer, we offer a fully Tailormade service to the country.
