Where would you prefer to be this Easter? At home working on DIY projects or out seeing a bit more of the world! With Easter fast approaching we asked some of our team where they would prefer to be to provide you with some inspiration!

Easter is a great time to travel; in Europe, the countryside is starting to burst with new life, while in Northern Africa and the Middle East temperatures are rising nicely. Take the opportunity to see new places, try new activities or tick another destination off your list. No ladders or paintbrushes necessary! Don't forget to check out our selection of Easter trips below to find your perfect break!

Easter 2012 will particularly special as I will be travelling through Papua New Guinea. Taking the chance to spend time with some of the world’s most remote tribes, float along the Sepik River and visit Mount Hagen, home to a spectacular annual cultural show. I’ll be stocking up on a few chocolate eggs before I go though! Hannah (Product Manager)

I would like to spend Easter looking for Northern lights in the hills of Iceland, I have only ever seen a glimpse of the lights and I want more! I was last in Iceland in January, in the worst weather they had for ten years, it was beautiful and wild and snowy. I can’t wait to get back out there but this time with some clear skies and some warmer toes! Megan (Operations Manager)

I’d rather be taking it easy on a houseboat cruising the tranquil backwaters of tropical Kerala. By day I’d sit back enjoying banana chips and a spicy coconut fish curry, watching rural life in the villages along the way. At night I’d lie on deck with a cool beer under a canopy of stars. Caroline (Product Manager)

I’ll be in the UK, given the choice it would be Beijing for me. Firstly, being a Brit and looking at the weather it is a great time to be there. The sights are fabulous - the Great Wall Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square are iconic, but it is time spent wandering through the narrow back streets that makes any visit to Beijing special. Local restaurants here have to sell some of the best food in the world. I love heading into one where no English is spoken and there are no English menus; a series of pointing, gestures and impressions (I do a mean chicken) ensures the delivery of a fantastic meal, which is washed down with rather large bottles of Tsingtao. Simon (Head of Product)

This Easter I am going to be Trekking in Nepal on our Annapurna Panorama trip, I can’t wait!  On Easter Sunday I will be completely away from it all trekking through a largely uninhabited area and taking in the beautiful scenery. The only down side of this is that I won’t be able to buy any chocolate easily for the end of lent! Linda (Product Manager)

This Easter I will be going on an Adventure holiday in the Galapagos Islands and am certainly more excited by this than by the chocolate eggs and bunnies all around. A place I dreamt of travelling to since I was a child; I can’t wait to explore the beauty of the mainland with all its volcanoes and stunning scenery and to see the amazing wildlife so unique to the Galapagos Islands themselves – who needs chocolate when you’ve got giant tortoises, marine iguana and blue footed boobies!? For me this year will be an Easter to remember. I will be on my honeymoon in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. My husband (to be) is mad about sport so we are watching one day of the England vs. Sri Lanka Test match in Galle. This will be followed by whale watching then game drives to spot leopards in Yala national park. Once we are done racing around we are off to the Maldives for one week on a live aboard boat snorkelling, fishing and generally relaxing in the tropical islands, can’t wait. Ali (Product Manager)

Don’t leave it too late!

Whilst it can be possible to book holidays shortly before they depart, at popular times of year like Easter, flights can become booked quite far in advance. You may find yourself paying an unnecessary premium as spaces become scarce or worse – not getting a seat at all. We recommend you book as far in advance as possible but if you are a late booker, our reservations team will do everything they can to find a space for you.
