The Travel Photographer of the Year is a photography contest open to photographers from across the world, of all ages and experience levels. In 2012 we were proud to sponsor the 'Wild Planet' category.
'Wild planet' covers wildlife, landscapes, nature and adventure, giving contestants the opportunity to submit a wide range of photographs. The overall category winner was Marsel Van Oosten, who took a selection of evocative night-time shots in Namibia. Marsel wins a nine-day Explore Tailormade safari in Kenya.
There were several runners up in the 'Wild Planet' category and the 'best single photograph' was shot by Michal Jastrzebski.
You'll be able to view all the winning images at an exhibition at the Royal Geographical Society next year, but check out some of our favourite shots from the Wild Planet category below or visit the Travel Photographer of the Year website to see all the winners.
