Kosovo was only declared a country in 2008 therefore it is pretty new to the tourist map and you may not be aware as yet what it has to offer. Read on for the five best highlights of Kosovo

decani monastery      Sharr Mountains National Park – Brezovica is in the heart of the Sharr Mountains National Park. In winter, it is a skier’s heaven. However, it also boasts beautiful trails that can make great walks in the summer with breathtaking views.

        Prizren - Historic Prizen is an eclectic mix of Mediterranean, Orthodox, Ottoman and Islam flavours. It is a pretty town with many mosques, monasteries and narrow cobbled alleys.

        Decani Monastery – The beautiful Decani Monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Monastery was established in 1327 by the Serb King Stefan Uros III Decanski and is a superbly situated showpiece of Orthodox art featuring some excellent intact frescoes, in fact more than 1000 compositions and figures.

        Prizren, Kosovo Rahovec wine – Rahovec is known as the wine cellar of Kosovo. Its biggest producer is Stone Castle and is also one of the biggest producers in the Balkans. The industry is getting back on its feet again after being on hold while the country was in turmoil. They currently export to the USA and Germany.

        Rugova Gorge – The Rugova Valley, the Kosovo part of the Accursed Mountains has dramatic landscapes including waterfalls and great opportunities for hiking.
