Easy

Walking and trekking holidays are great for those who would like to get outdoors, and we have them all across the world. So, whether you're looking to try rambling in the Outer Hebrides, walking in France or even trekking to Everest Base Camp or climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, we have the perfect tour for you. We have graded all our walking and trekking tours, dependent on the level of difficulty ranging from Easy to Tough. These grades are based on our Active ratings and are meant to be a general guide to help you decide if a trip is right for you.


You will also find a gradient chart on each dossier so you can see how far you'll be walking each day, at what altitude and when there are rest days.

Short day walks at low altitudes. Walks can be enjoyed by anyone who leads a reasonably active life..

Moderate

Involves some longer walks at low altitudes. (4-6 hrs/day, below 3000m). Some previous hillwalking experience is beneficial, but walks should be within the capabilities of those who lead a normal active life. Tours may contain optional strenuous days, and we would advise that you tone up your fitness before you travel.

Strenuous

For the more serious hillwalker and a higher level of physical fitness is required. Walking days can be 6-8 hrs and may involve up to 900m plus of ascent/descent. be prepared for many consecutive days walking, often at high altitudes, so stamina is very important.

Tough

Requires that you are very fit; previous trekking experience is strongly advised. Tours include long walks with steep uphill/downhill gradients. There may be extremes of altitude (up to 6000m) and severe weather conditions. Will involve several long days (up to 8/9 hrs of continual trekking with no rest day.
