Arctic and Antarctic

Polar Bears crossing
We all grew up with stories of the heroic exploits of men such as Ernest Shackleton and Scott - and they have inspired us to, at least once, try and get to the 'last great wildernesses on earth'.

Please view all our tours in polar regions.

Antarctica

Walruses

Walruses

Antarctica is a nature-lover and photographer's dream - make sure you pack plenty of film for these life-changing adventures!

Conjuring images of the world's most respected Explorers -Scott, Shackleton, Amundsen - the untamed icy wilderness of the Antarctic leaves no traveller untouched.

Those who have the good fortune to set their eyes upon this icy continent will be blessed with sights, sounds and sensations that cannot be experienced elsewhere.

Discover the amazing diversity in the partof the world where night never seems tofall; the sculptured blue icebergs suspended in cool waters; the surprisingly rich ecosystems and fossils found in the area; the dip of the albatross as it skims its wing along the crest of a wave.

See the majestic whales of the deep, and characterful penguins at thewaters edge; experience the translucent reflections between striking white isles, and the vast openness of the ocean at the Antarctic Convergence.

Breathe the profound silence - broken only by the splash of breaching whales, the groan of ancient glaciers or the sound of brash ice bumping alongside our safe and comfortable ice ship, as we marvel at the dramatic land and seascapes we pass along the way...

Arctic

If big, white and cuddly (if only!) polar bears are more your thing, then you have to go to the Arctic. At the edge of the pack-ice lies the island of Spitsbergen, home to the polar bear, walrus and all other varieties of Arctic wildlife. In the summer months, when the ice begins to break up, the polar bear heads for land in search of food and this offers us the best chance of seeing these mighty mammals. If ice conditions allow, we will attempt a circumnavigation of the Svalbard archipelago, where we will make shore landings using zodiacs - and, if you are brave, go for that irresistible polar dip!
