When to Travel

The Galapagos climate is influenced by ocean currents. It is most popular to visit from December to May as the seas tend to be calmer, warmer for snorkelling, the sun shines and it is generally very hot with sudden showers. The temperature drops from June to November as the Humboldt current reaches up from the south bringing much richer seas and an increase in wildlife activity. However in August and September the sea and land temperatures drop, it is often cloudy and the sea is especially choppy (when many boats put in to dry dock).

VITAL, SPIRITUAL, COLOURFUL

Ecuador is naturally blessed with great diversity and abundant life, as if many countries had been condensed into one. Thanks to its diminutive size it is easy to travel from imposing Andean mountain scenery to virgin tracts of Amazon jungle and onto the natural paradise of the Galapagos Islands.

Meet Manuela De Fazio, Regional Specialist for Ecuador & Galapagos Islands

Manu
The memories of my time in Ecuador always make me smile - the surprise of such variety of places and ecosystems in such a tiny country quickly turns into excitement. There are charming Quito and Cuenca for culture and city lovers, the Amazon jungle and Mindo cloud forest if birds and nature are your passion and the Avenue of the Volcanoes, where snowy peaks make you forget you are on the Equator. This beautiful region is dotted with lamas, vicunas and the colourful ponchos and hats of the Andean communities. Last but not least the unique wildlife mecca of Galapagos is a highlight; nowhere else in the world can one cruise in search of penguins, boobies, sea lions, iguanas, giant tortoises and many more species all in one place.
