In 2008 Explore became the first major travel company to offset carbon emissions. We work alongside Cool Earth to support indigenous communities in the Amazon rainforest through community engagement, education and empowerment.
Explore is supporting 16 Ashanika villages, 14 rainforest schools, funding emergency evacuations and family cooperatives. To date we have saved over 800 acres of rainforest, 195,000 trees and over 210,000 tonnes of CO2 has been locked in.
"Explore are extremely proud to support Cool Earth in their worthy quest to save the rainforest. Working with local communities to achieve positive results is a fundamental ethos of Explore, so a partnership with Cool Earth is an obvious and exciting choice. We believe in empowerment through education and recognise that without community engagement we will lose more and more of our precious rainforest."
