The Hope Foundation works throughout India, supporting some of India’s poorest and most vulnerable communities through developing healthcare, education and vocational training.
Explore first worked with Hope in the immediate aftermath of the 2004 tsunami and purchased five fishing boats, complete with nets, to enable a South Indian community to get back to work.
Since establishing this 'Centre of Hope' in the village of Pudupattinam post tsunami, projects have blossomed, thanks to the work of Santosh and Nalini Kagoo - Hope's project staff - who live within the community itself.
The community now enjoys a health centre, vocational training, sanitation, a community centre and a school; all down to the sheer hard work of the local Hope team and the support of our customers. Since 2005 we have been sponsoring a teacher and recently purchased a new library for the school.
Customers travelling on our South Indian Images tour you may also have the opportunity to visit the school.
