Maria Chetcuti

I've wanted to become a tour guide since I was a little girl. My father was born in one of the most historic villages in Malta and when I used to visit my grandma with him, he would always tell me about the history of the buildings. I grew up wanting to show all this beauty to other people. I started studying history and languages at the age of 11 and at 21 I got licensed as a tourist guide. My job is very fun because you meet different people, coming from different countries and cultures. Every day I get to show people my island, which is my pride and joy, and so it's a pleasure to transmit my passion to other people.

Malta is an all-rounder because on a small tiny island like this, you can find everything. The most interesting part of Malta is its variety. Being situated in the centre of the Mediterranean, it has been occupied by nearly everyone -  and as a result we have a very rich culture and history. Visiting Malta is like taking a stroll back in time, starting from the oldest free-standing monuments in the world dating back to 3600 BC, to the monumental capital city of Valletta built by the famous knights of St. John in 1566, and the British influences.

The most important piece of advice for an Explore client is comfortable shoes, clothes and sun screen.. .the rest is in our hands!
