Being in nature for most of the time made me feel part of it and responsible for its protection, and I like to share this with my groups. Most of the day we spend talking about our connection and dependence on the natural environment, using examples we find during the walks in Corfu's nature. This is what I like to share with my groups, and in combination with the interesting history of this place, people get totally connected with their holiday destination.
When I am not leading tours, I am a member of the Environmental Association of Corfu and honoured to be a member of the committee of the 'Ionian Butterfly Conservation' organisation, observing, recording and protecting the butterflies on Corfu.
Which Explore tours do you lead?
I lead walking and trekking tours on Corfu.
What do travellers find most surprising when they visit Corfu?
The first contact with Corfu is ''Green''. The climate and the geological characteristics make the Island the greenest of the Mediterranean Sea, but also the diversity of the flora, walking from the South to the North, is unique. Starting from the sandy and clay terrains, changing to ancient riverbeds and ending to limestone hills, an Explore visitor can observe hundreds of different plants, insects and small animals. That is a pleasant surprise for my companions, finding Corfu unexpectedly varied. At the end of the trip they feel part of this environment.
