10 places to go in November

Wondering where is best to go in November? Discover our destination recommendations. From festivals in Bhutan to trekking in Patagonia, November is a great time for an adventure holiday.

Vietnam

Vietnam is such a long and thin country that it has different climate zones, and the best time to visit varies by region. In November, the north of Vietnam is dry and warm, as the rainy season has just finished. The south of Vietnam is also good to visit in November as it’s hot and sunny, but avoid central Vietnam as November sees stormy and rainy weather here. Our Highlights of Vietnam and Cambodia tour visits both north and south Vietnam.

Patagonia (Chile and Argentina)

Patagonia is one of the world’s famous trekking destinations, known for the spectacular Mount Fitz Roy with its towering peaks and striking turquoise waters. Tick this walk off your bucketlist on our Fitz Roy and Torres del Paine trekking tour. November sits in the shoulder season so the trails aren't too crowded. You’ll hike the iconic ‘W Trek’, discovering the breath-taking glacial landscape as you go. And after the hike we’ve included an excursion to the must-see Perito Moreno Glacier, an incredible 18-mile-long glacier that’s a sight to behold.

South Africa

Visit South Africa in November for warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine. This climate is of course perfect for South Africa’s vineyards, so don’t miss out on sampling some world-class wine on your holiday. And what could be better than rewarding yourself with a quality wine after a cycle through stunning wine country? Take our Cycle the Cape cycling tour and you’ll ride through fertile valleys as well as through nature reserves and coastal national parks.

Iceland

Always wanted to see the Northern Lights? November sits in the middle of the Northern Lights season (from late August to mid-April) and you have good chances of seeing them (although sadly they’re never guaranteed) in Iceland. Take our Iceland Winter Adventure and you’ll travel around the country's famous ring road for a road trip with a difference. You’ll stay in hotels in the remote countryside, away from light pollution and with good chances of seeing the Aurora.

India

November is a great month to visit Kerala in southern India, where the peak season is just beginning. It’s a popular time because the climate is cool and dry. Make the most of the weather and the lush green area on a Kerala cycling holiday. The comfortable temperature is ideal for cycling by tea plantations, through villages and beside the beach-lined coast.

Italy

For those looking to soak up the sun of the Amalfi Coast without breaking a sweat, November is a fantastic time to embark on an Amalfi Coast walking tour. Situated at a picturesque agriturismo (farm guesthouse) overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean sea, you’ll work your way around clifftop and woodland trails, visiting iconic towns such as Positano along the way. You’ll also tick the Walk of the Gods off your bucket list, rewarding you with stunning views of the Bay of Salerno and Capri.

The Canary Islands

Head to the Canary Islands for some winter sun, where the climate is warm and pleasant. On Gran Canaria the temperature averages around 24c in November and there’s a little, but not much, rainfall. Most tourists come here for the beaches but there’s plenty more to see. On our Walking in Gran Canaria trip you can walk right through the heart of this volcanic island, from one side to the other, along historic trails called ‘caminos reales’. Walk up to the summit of Roque Nublo, the landmark rock of Gran Canaria, to be rewarded with stunning views across to the neighbouring Canary islands.

Bhutan

Immerse yourself in culture with a visit to one of the impressively colourful festivals of Bhutan. In November it’s the turn of the intriguing Black Necked Crane Festival. The annual festival celebrates the arrival of the birds that make the area their home in the winter months. Costumes, dances and songs emulate the birds and focuses on the conservation of the endangered species. After the event, no visit to Bhutan would be complete without a hike to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, which perches on a cliff face 900 metres above the Paro Valley.

New Zealand

Swap the dreary weather for some summer sun and head to New Zealand in November. Be one step ahead and avoid the peak season of December - including the high flight costs and the school holidays for New Zealanders - by going in November. Our New Zealand Explorer tour covers the must-sees and must-dos of both islands. Highlights include an overnight cruise in serene and peaceful Doubtful Sound and sailing and walking in Abel Tasman, a coastal paradise with golden beaches and lush native forest.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica’s rainy season is from May to mid-November, so heading there in November means you get to see it right after the rain, when it’s at its most lush and green. The rainy season in the jungle means green vegetation and full waterfalls – much better for photo opportunities than dry and brown forest. Our popular Explore Costa Rica tour runs throughout November.
