Based on the island of Lopud, just under an hour by ferry from Dubrovnik, this week-long active family holiday is ideal for water lovers. Spend the week exploring inlets, bays and neighbouring islands by kayak. Learn how to SUP (stand up paddle board), cycle on Sipan Island and venture into Dubrovnik to explore its winding limestone streets and grand baroque buildings. It's a great place for all the family to discover.

Sicily, Italy

Discover the protected marine park of Isole Ciclopi (so called for the the mythical Cyclopes who, according to Homer's Odyssey, once inhabited Sicily). Sea kayaking around these basalt stacks, it's not hard to see how they inspired such stories; on a guided sea kayaking tour, you can circumnavigate the ancient towering sea rocks of the Faraglioni di Actirezza and hear more of their stories and history before returning back to Acicastello, the site of a Norman castle for further exploration.

South Africa

Sea kayak along the coast from Central Beach towards Plettenberg Bay and discover its magical seascape. Gliding across sparkling water, take in views of the majestic Tsitsikamma Mountains, Robberg Nature Reserve and encounter incredible marine life,  such as Cape Fur seals, Bottlenose and Humpback Dolphins and a whole host of sea birds.

Cabana Amarilla lies just six kilometres from Granada, making it an ideal destination to head to on bikes before taking to the waters of Lake Nicaragua in kayaks. Spend the morning paddling through some of the myriad of islands and inlets that pepper its coastline with its beautifully lush, tropical islets that occupy this vast expanse of water. The greenery is a magnet for the local bird life and there's always time to linger and enjoy this tranquil setting before having lunch on one of the islands.

Tuscany, Italy

Take to the waters of the beautiful Lake Gramolazzo in  either double seated kayaks or stand up paddle boards to explore this lovely setting. There is ample time to paddle, kayak, swim or relax on the grassy banks of the water's edge where blue herons and an abundance of other bird life can be spotted. Kayaking gives the whole family the chance to make this experience as adventurous or tranquil as they'd like and take in all the best of this area from the water.

Head to the Gulf of Tonkin and the breathtaking scenery of Ha Long Bay.Within the bay there are many areas to be explored; visit a Vung Vieng fishing village by rowing boat or kayak, then spend the rest of the day exploring the bay. The spectacular limestone scenery means that after kayaking around the floating village, you can explore further afield and discover some of the hundreds of islands or caves scattering the bay and venture through magnificent rock arches.

Sea kayak in the calm, protected waters of the bay of Kekova. After a quick breakfast with coffee en route, paddle in the tranquil waters before any other boats or kayakers take to the water. It's one of the most scenic areas in Lycia with picturesque islands, bays and small ancient cities surrounding the famous sunken city of Kekova. The result of various earthquakes, there are partly submerged streets and buildings in the crystal-clear waters below, and even steps leading down into the depths of the bay. It's a great place for an adventurous exploration by water.
