An evening of Polar travel

We joined forces with the teams of the M/V Greg Mortimer and M/V Sylvia Earle to bring an exciting live event featuring expedition specialist and historian Dr John Dudeney OBE as well as travel and environment journalist and radio broadcaster Mark Stratton. They told fascinating stories and top tips about Polar travel. We heard about their incredible wildlife encounters, got an insight into life on-board an expedition ship, as well as practical advice on what to pack and how many layers you’ll need to wear.

Meet the experts

We're thrilled to be joined by two fantastic experts, Dr John Dudeney OBE and Mark Stratton. With plenty of hands-on experience and knowledge between them, you'll come away with fascianting tips and stories.

Alongside being a historian and guide in Antarctica for the past 14 years, Dr John Dudeney OBE has 56 years of professional experience, as well as a lifelong passion for everything Antarctica. John joined the British Antarctic Survey in 1966 as a scientist, working at Faraday Station, and as a research scientist, research leader, science manager, and as deputy director.

Globetrotting travel and environment journalist and radio broadcaster, Mark Stratton, has visited both the Polar regions on many occasions. A traveller from a young age, he studied geography at London University, then worked as a park ranger in the Cotsworlds.
