Why not make the most of the May half term week, with its public holiday in the UK, to take your family on an adventure they’ll be remembering for years to come? With a well-planned itinerary you and your family could discover countries such as Morocco, Turkey, Croatia, Italy or Iceland in just one week. All are excellent destinations for adventure loving families and ideal for exploring in late May.
In Italy, Sorrento offer pleasant temperatures and beautiful scenery. Along the dramatic coastline we visit the Roman city of Pompeii and the majestic Greek temples of Paestum. We walk on the summit of Vesuvius where we can look down into its vast volcanic crater. Join us in making classic Italian pizza, or simply enjoy the sunshine by the hotel pool.
The Turquoise Coast in Turkey looks its best in May, when the indented coastline is green with spring growth and snow still covers the highest peaks of the Taurus Mountains. The coastal towns and villages are quieter than in summer and typically the temperatures in May make activities such as sea kayaking, canoeing and mountain biking much more comfortable.
Elsewhere in southern Europe the temperatures in May can be ideal for active family holidays. In Croatia for example the waters in the Cetina Gorge are high (ideal for rafting) and the landscape is covered in wildflowers. Alternatively you could head to northern Europe, to Iceland, where in May you will typically enjoy crisp sunny days with very long daylight hours, while snow and ice still covers much of the landscape.
