October half-term is an ideal time to get away on a family holiday. The nights are drawing in and winter is on its way. Why put up with endless grey skies and kids stuck in front of their games console when you could be kayaking over sunken cities in Turkey, camping out under starlit skies in Wadi Rum, Jordan or heading into Ranthambore National Park in India in search of tigers, monkeys and sloth bears?
It’s a lot quieter travelling in October. There isn't such a scrum at the airport check in, hotels and major sites are much less busy and as an added bonus, its generally considerably cheaper to travel compared to the summer holidays; helpful when you’re paying for the whole family.
Simon Grove, Head of Product at Explore Worldwide shares his thoughts on why October is his ideal month to travel with his family;
"We have always tried to get away in October half-term; the summer is a busy time here at Explore, finalizing our trip line up for the year ahead. Come September things quieten down in the office.
As for choice, the weather in places like as India, Sri Lanka, Morocco, Jordan and Egypt is ideal at this time of year; not too hot for the kids but warm enough to be able to spend all day outside in a t shirt and shorts. Exam season is also a few months away, so October half term is often the last chance for a family holiday before the all-important exam revising season kicks in."
Explore offers a wide choice of family holiday options that maximise your time away, so whether it’s a one week or two week half-term - we have the perfect active family holiday for you.
