Multi Activity Holidays in Africa

Africa is understandably best known for its wildlife, however it’s also now growing in popularity as an adventure activity destination, with a range of land and water based challenges available to try.

South Africa is leading the way in adventure activities with everything from climbing Table Mountain in Cape Town to sea kayaking at Simon’s Town and canyoning (or kloofing as its known in South Africa) in the Magaliesberg Mountains to rafting on the Orange River. There really is something for everyone with activities spread throughout the length and breadth of the country.

Morocco’s desert scenery with its Berber history provides the perfect setting for camel trekking, so why not ride across the Erg Chebbi sand dunes and camp out under the stars.

Country Information

The Omo River in Ethiopia flows from the Shewan Highlands to Lake Turkana and is fast becoming a whitewater rafting hot spot. It’s an exhilarating way to experience the untouched green forestry that surrounds you.

In Malawi stands Mount Mulanje, the highest mountain in Central Africa at over 3000 metres at the summit. The hike to the top isn’t technically difficult, but there are six official routes to choose from, and from the top you’ll be rewarded with views over the tea-growing Mulanje area, Chiraddzulu plains and city of Blantyre.

Mount Kilimanjaro is of course the African mountain that trekkers wish to conquer. Known as the ‘roof of Africa’, Mount Kilimanjaro stands at 5895 metres and is the tallest free standing mountain in the world with numerous exciting hiking routes to the top.

In Tanzania travelling on two wheels is a great way to take in the scenery, wildlife and tribal villages at your own pace. Mountain bike across the Usambara Mountains, through open savannahs, and encounter local Masai tribesman along the way.

Africa’s desert dunes, plunging waterfalls, rushing rivers, towering mountains and vast coastline understandably make it an ideal destination for action packed adventure activity holidays.
