Multi Activity Holidays in Sri Lanka

Located off the southern coast of India, the small teardrop shaped island of Sri Lanka is ideal for those seeking to combine an interest in Buddhist culture with a variety of activities. The landscape varies from pristine tropical beaches with warm seas, through the hot flat plains of the cultural triangle and up in to the cooler tea plantations in the centre of the island. This diversity ensures a wide range of activities are on offer, and Sri Lanka’s size makes it possible to explore most of the island in a short period.

The ancient city of Polonnaruwa is ideal for exploring on two wheels. The complex is made up of small temples, large Buddhist stupas and stone Buddha statues and cycling through allows time to visit each site as well as stopping along the way to chat to locals.

Additional information

There are plenty of options for walking in Sri Lanka, from climbing to the top of Lion Rock, ascending Adams Peak for sunrise views or trekking across Horton Plains to the dramatic ‘World’s End’, a sheer drop of more than 1000 metres. During the wet season the Kelani River offers the chance to try out whitewater rafting to get the adrenaline going.

After taking a jeep safari to search for Leopard in Yala National Park, head to the southern coast which is home to beautiful quiet beaches for some relaxation time. During the winter months it is possible to take a whale watching trip, or try your hand at snorkelling in the shallow waters.

The sheer variety available in Sri Lanka makes it the perfect location to begin your multi-active adventures.
