On several Explore Multi Activity tours you can experience the sport of canyoning (or canyoneering as it’s known in the USA) which involves descending a river canyon using a range of techniques including abseiling, scrambling, jumping, sliding, wading and swimming.
The adrenaline rush is hard to describe as you descend from one pool to the next through the spray of thundering waterfalls, sliding down naturally sculpted rockslides into foaming water and leaping off ledges into the river below.
Wearing full safety gear, including wetsuits, harnesses and helmets, you will always be accompanied by an experienced and qualified canyoning guide. Your guide will keep you safe and help you learn the techniques of canyoning as quickly as possible, so that you can just enjoy the thrill and exhilaration of the experience. Canyons are graded according to difficulty, with options for everyone regardless of age, experience or skill levels. However you do need to be able to swim and have a reasonable head for heights.
Aside from the thrill-factor, canyoning also takes you into a spectacular and secret natural world of sheer sided gorges, beautiful sculpted rocks, tranquil pools and crashing waterfalls.
