The Marangu Route is the busiest and fastest way up the mountain, but more rewarding and slower routes (with safer rates of ascent) include the Lemosho Route, said to be the quietest, safest and most beautiful path to the summit, and the Rongai Route, also relatively un-trodden and believed to be the easiest of all the ascents. From the rocky summit at Uhuru Peak the views over the surrounding plains are simply breathtaking: on a clear day it’s even possible to see the curvature of the Earth.
