Poland has fantastic scenery and superb alpine walking in its numerous National Parks. The Carpathian Mountains in the south of the country create a natural border between Slovakia and Poland. The central and highest parts are known as the Tatra Mountains which are surrounded by several other mountain groups including the Babia Gora range and Pieniny Mountains. The well marked walking trails take you through lowland meadows, forested hillsides and past glistening glacial lakes.
Hiking in the Polish Carpathians
you cross three national parks taking in the most interesting parts of the Polish Highlands. The ski resort town of Zakapone makes a great base for exploring the surrounding peaks and the traditional architecture and highlander culture is still evident.
