Walking in North America
The USA has 59 national parks. Yellowstone was the first and the largest is Wrangell-St Elias in Alaska at over 8 million acres. As well as walking through spectacular scenery, if you are lucky it is also possible to spot some of the North American wildlife including brown bear, moose and caribou. Two of the most popular day walks in the USA are walking down into the Grand Canyon and the Narrows walk in Zion National Park.

The Rocky Mountains is the major mountain range in North America and stretches for more than 4800 km from British Colombia in western Canada to New Mexico in the USA and is popular with hikers. Alaska contains all the highest mountains in the USA, the highest being Mount McKinley in Denali National Park (6194 m), the highest outside of Alaska is Mount Whitney in the Sierra Nevada range in California.

With walking possibilities ranging from easy walks all the way to challenging treks, North America is an excellent destination for a walking holiday.
