Wildlife Trips in Uganda

Uganda differs from most other safari destinations in Africa, due to the forests where chimpanzees, golden monkeys and the remarkable mountain gorillas can be found. Seeing gorillas in the wild is a privilege that few people have the opportunity to experience in their lifetime.

Kibale National Park is famed for its chimpanzee population, but in total 13 primate species are found here. The tropical forest is also home to 70 mammal species and over 375 different bird species.

Additional information

Bwindi National Park ranges in altitude from 1200-2800 metres, and has a dense band of primary mountain forest that makes it an ideal location for the 300 gorillas that reside here. L’Hoest’s monkey (mountain monkey) can be seen at lower levels and the rare golden monkey can occasionally be spotted in the higher reaches of the forest.

Murchison Falls National Park’s main highlight is the 50 metre wide waterfall on the Victoria Nile River, which thunders through the rocks. As well as the picturesque scenery, you can see Rothschild giraffes, antelopes, the endangered shoebill and six primate species.

In Queen Elizabeth National Park you can explore the undulating grasslands, volcanic crater lake and papyrus swamp, and may see tree-climbing lions, elephant, buffalo, hippos and pelicans. In nearby Kyambura Gorge chimpanzees, Colobus monkeys and a variety of birds can be found in the forest.

Uganda delivers one of the world’s best wildlife viewing experiences, from the excitement of traditional safaris to the awe-inspiring sight of mountain gorillas in the natural habitat. An adventure that’s hard to beat!
