During October half-term, the nights are drawing in and winter is on its way…
So why not treat yourself and your family to an adventure holiday somewhere warm and sunny, an inspiring and invigorating boost before the cold, grey days set in? In just one week you could explore countries like Morocco, Egypt, Jordan or Turkey on an action-packed adventure holiday. Or if you have a two week half-term, why not consider a long-haul destination such as India, Nepal or South Africa?
October is an ideal month to visit North Africa and the Middle East. In Morocco, Egypt and Jordan the intense heat of summer is melting away and you can expect warm sunshine during the day with cool, crisp evenings and nights, perfect for a comfortable night’s sleep after your busy day.
The southern coast of Turkey, protected by the Taurus Mountains, has a micro-climate that holds temperatures higher than elsewhere in Turkey. You can expect October to be warm and sunny, with the added bonus of being less busy than during the summer. You can enjoy canoeing, mountain biking and sea kayaking in comfortable temperatures and without the crowds.
Late October is also an excellent time to visit India, when the summer monsoon has been replaced by clear, cool air and the fierce temperatures have dropped. This is also the perfect season for travelling to Nepal, especially for trekking in the Himalaya, as the views of the high peaks are normally at their best during October and November, immediately after the monsoon. Heading to the southern hemisphere, October half-term is an ideal time to travel around the Western Cape in South Africa: temperatures are perfect, the dramatic landscapes burst into colour in the South African spring, while off-shore you can enjoy whale watching between June and November.
