A great trip but hated gawping at the Padaung women placed in a showroom just to attract tourists - tourism at its worst.
I loved the visits to the workshops and some amazing monasteries and pagodas. Felt sometimes too rushed at some places. Fun having such a variety of transport. Really glad we opted for the beach extension because after 3 weeks of being on the move and absorbing so much it gave me time to reflect before returning to the hustle of normal life.

Hi there I am still trying to assimilate all the wonderful experiences that I had in Myanmar partly because there was little time to do so during the trip which was action packed and pacy. With jet lag and a bug that I picked up in the first few days I personally would have found that a slower pace in the first week might have helped me to aclimatise to the heat and to fully appreciate what I was seeing and feeling. A lot of time is spent travelling on this trip and sometimes it felt that not enough time was given when visiting a site, as though all we really wanted was to 'take a picture'. If I was planning this trip I think I would reduce the quantity of experiences, particularly in visiting Pagodas, and up the quality of experience.
The extention at Ngapali beach resort was a wonderful way to relax and reflect on our journey through Myanmar and I would thoroughly recommend it. We also spent nearly 3 hours at the Shreedagon Pagoda at sunset when we returned to Yangon, on our last evening. I would highly recommend this second visit to future travellers. The atmosphere and colours were magical.
Our guide was passionate about her country, wanting to pack in as much as possible in every way. Sometimes less is more!
Overall the experience was amazing and I feel that I have indeed more than scratched the surface of this beautiful country.
I hope this is useful to you.

Overall, Burma is less commercialised than the other far east countries and the longer tour is well worth doing to see more of the country.
