- I have been on several Explore tours and this one was definitely the best for several reasons. It was excellent value for money; we experienced lots of adventure; we covered a great number of different areas and types of terrain; we saw lots of wildlife including the elusive giant anteater; we flew over Angel Falls and last but by no means least we had a superb leader in Carlucho Nunez.
I travelled in the dry season and did not take a sleeping bag. I found I could manage without one by wearing socks and extra clothing on the nights we were sleeping in hammocks and I'm generally a person who feels the cold.
Prices for everything were very cheap by UK standards. A dinner in a hotel restaurant was 4 $ US and snacks along the way around 1$ for a litre of juice. Overall I spent 150$ US including all the tips.
The organisers in Venezuela - Viva Trek - were outstanding in arranging airport pick-ups and drop-offs, hotel extensions and lots more.
