- A great trip. The scenery was unbelievable, especially in Bolivia, which just took my breath away - the Salt Flat has to be seen, it's extraordinary. The itinerary was well judged overall, a good mix of seeing great landscapes, being in the countryside, visiting towns and exploring cities. I did go out ahead of the group for an extra 2 nights in Santiago, and stayed an extra night in Lima at the end, otherwise there'd be no real time to see either city. A real highlight were the local guides, who had excellent knowledge and enthusiasm for their countries. Our main guide who accompanied us throughout was lovely, but not as knowledgeable as perhaps he could have been. Accommodation was a bit mixed, and it's nice to have a range, although be prepared for an absolutely freezing night on Lake Titicaca. Food was amazing - we ate like royalty some nights and got to try some great local dishes. It was here our guide did excel, taking us to a couple of really memorable restaurants. Be prepared for the altitude (we got to over 5000m!) but enjoy the recommendation to drink copious mugs of coca tea! Take Factor 50 for the sun! And don't miss the night sky - it will blow you away...
