Your adventure

Classic Antarctica - M/V Ocean Victory

Experience incredible wildlife, stunning scenery, and gigantic icebergs during an action-packed 10 days on the Antarctic Peninsula. Departing from Argentina's southernmost city, Ushuaia, and crossing the Drake Passage, we set sail toward the South Shetland Islands. Delve deep into the inlets and bays of the Antarctic Peninsula, entering the famous Gerlache Strait, where glittering ice cliffs and precipitous peaks rise straight from the frigid waters. Icebergs, glaciers, mountains, and rugged snowfields characterize this wildly beautiful landscape. On no other journey can you experience so much pristine nature and diverse wildlife in such a short time. We will set foot on land to explore penguin rookeries, research stations, and historical sites, as well as Zodiac-cruise through scenic bays filled with giant icebergs, whales, and seals. A plethora of Antarctic wildlife and jaw-dropping scenery await you on this unforgettable adventure to the Great White Continent.

Suitability

Is this the trip for you?

  • Antarctic travel requires a degree of flexibility, and our itinerary can change at short notice. While we'll always aim to visit our planned landing sites, weather and other factors might affect the running order of this trip. Our expert leaders and captain will have the final say.
  • While our ship is purpose-built to carve through the ice, occasionally, during extreme weather, we might be unable to do Zodiac landings. There is a gym, sauna, and library onboard, so there's plenty to keep you busy.
  • This is an active journey with plenty of included activities - you should have a basic level of fitness and mobility to take part.
  • During this trip, we cross the Drake Passage, known for its choppy waters and unpredictable weather. If you suffer from sea sickness, we recommend bringing medication - the bumpy ride is worth it to explore this stunning region.
  • Our itinerary includes several days at sea as we make our crossing - while we won't be disembarking the boat during these days, they give us a chance to attend lectures and talks by the expedition team, as well as use the ship's excellent facilities.
  • It goes without saying it's going to get chilly! We recommend appropriate clothing, including waterproof outerwear and base layers - a recommended packing list will be provided beforehand.
  • It's worth noting that this trip isn't exclusive to Explore, and you'll be travelling with passengers from other companies.
