Please review your overall experience and what your highlights were

A good mix of sites, towns & cities and some seaside. Highlights were the mosaics at Villa Romana del Casale and views of Etna.

Our Response

We’ve noted your comments about the other customers’ flight issues. There were some specific issues relating to individual reservations and these have been discussed with the customers directly. In general, we offer flight information at the time of booking so you’re able to make an informed decision. We are always happy to look at alternatives if the flights don’t suit, but it’s worth noting that they might not fit within the costing of the trip, so may incur additional fees.

In addition, thank you for your positive comments about Sue, she’ll be delighted to hear you enjoyed her input.

Please review your overall experience and what your highlights were

The holiday was a good mix of culture and relaxation. Traveling around in a bus was very comfortable but it was a little bit large for the group size. If Explore want to be greener a smaller minibus would be better. Group meals were generally good and were excellent for getting to know other members of the group. The trip up Etna was very memorable and was a highlight of the tour for me. The guide for the Agrigento valley of the temples was excellent. Again this was a highlight of the tour along with the stunning mosaics. The trip to Mozia island was great and provided us with a chance to look at some spring flowers, in fact this was another highlight of the tour, the spring flowers were delightful. Explore is to be congratulated on putting together a tour which combined beautiful scenery with interesting history and monuments

Please review your overall experience and what your highlights were

An amazing experience to walk around such ancient sites. Although full on we were able to see so much in a short time due to such good planning.

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

The mosaics in the royal chapel at Palermo were my absolute highlight: the total effect was overwhelming and, having seen Hagia Sophia and the grand mosque at Damascus, it was very interesting to make comparisons.

What was the highlight or most memorable moment of your tour?

Amongst the many highlights for me were the amazingly well-preserved mosaics at the Villa Romana at Casale in Piazza Armerina, the Palatine Chapel in Palermo, the many Greek/Roman theatres and temples, Erice the ancient hill town and the stunning countryside. Mount Etna was unique! The food and wine were delicious and the climate was ideal for late September/early October. Blue sky, sunny and 25 to 30 degrees C. Our group was made up of 20 people of all ages and various nationalities = an ideal mix.

The highlights of the tour were going up Mount Etna, visiting Moxia and the drive between Palermo and Taormina.  Moxia in particular was unusual but atmospheric amongst all the archaeological sites we visited.  The good bit about the holiday was that we saw and did lots but the bad bit was that there was just a little too much - very difficult when there's so much to see!
